WHITE BEAN SAUCE aka SOS PWA BLAN
Hi Everyone,
Welcome back to my channel !! I missed you guys so much !! And I hope that you missed me too and in today's video I will show you how to make White Bean Saúce aka Sos Pwa Blan
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup of white beans
1 tablespoon of white Kosher Salt
2 scallions
5 cloves of garlic
Parsley/thyme
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon of butter (your choice of butter)
Directions:
INSTRUCTIONS
Add beans, water, garlic, cloves scallion to a large pot and boil for 1 hour and a half or until tender.
Once beans are tender drain beans, garlic and scallion and reserve liquid. Set aside ½ cup of beans for later use
Using a blender, puree beans, garlic and scallion with reserved liquid. You can decide the thickness of your bean puree.
Put the purée beans and the unblended beans together and add your butter and the rest or the ingredients. In a separate pan you will fry the scallions with the olive oil until they are a little bit brown and add to the bean sauce and let cook for another 20 minutes on medium low heat and then serve 😊

I just ate Haitian food for the first time and I needed to know how the rice was made because it was seriously the best rice I've ever tasted in my life. Thank you so much for explaining all the steps! I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit intimidated by all the steps required, especially with the epis, but it's definitely worth it! I'm a huge fan of Haiti as a country, and I'm so excited to try more Haitian food. It all looks so good. Merci!!

I have to say 1 million thank yous for you Marie. I was born in the United States but both of my parents are Haitian and both of my husband's parents are Haitian. When it comes to a cooking authentic Haitian food it is really a tough act to follow. I tried cooking black rice almost 20 years ago and didn't strain properly and the rice had a gritty flavor like the sand from the mushrooms left a residue. So I've been reluctant to try for so many years. But as I prepare for this Thanksgiving and my mom won't be available to make the rice I decided to take on this arduous task. Turns out with your recipe and guidance it really wasn't that hard and it came out absolutely delicious and authentic. My family is from Port Salute Haiti so we cook with coconut milk as well and it was delightful to taste it in the rice. Thank you so much I feel empowered to pass this recipe down. This was five stars!!!

How many ounces of mushrooms should I use? I just ordered the dried mushrooms from another brand so I’m not sure how much to use
I used one cup dried mushrooms to two cups of rice. Came out perfect. Probably could have stretched to three cups of rice. It was very black. Also I boiled the mushrooms for 10 minutes and let it sit in the water for 2 hours prior to straining it to prevent any sediment from the mushrooms from coming up. This boil is to produce the black water. Not the boil with the peas right before adding the rice
